Crutcher Scott Field - Abilene Christian Wildcats
ACU athletics competes at the NCAA Division I level, with its baseball team competing in the Western Athletic Conference. The baseball program, formed in 1955, competed at the NAIA and NCAA Division II levels until being disbanded in 1978. Thanks to fundraising efforts by MLB Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan, however, the baseball program was reinstated in 1991.

Spurs Return Dance Team to their Sidelines for the 2026-27 Season
Fresh off an appearance in the 2025-26 NBA Finals, the San Antonio Spurs announced on June 22nd that they will be returning a lost tradition to their sidelines in time for next season. The San Antonio Silver Dancers, the club’s dance team, were established in 1991, but has been on hiatus for the past eight seasons.

On Monday, June 1, the Dallas Mavericks announced they may have found the next location for their new home. CBS News reported the team is pursuing the purchase of the former site of the Valley View Mall in north Dallas for their new arena and entertainment hub.

Globe Life Field is home to Major League Baseball’s American League Texas Rangers – the Rangers organization began in 1972 when the Washington Senators relocated to Arlington, Texas. Globe Life Field is a retractable roof stadium that opened in 2020 with a seating capacity of just over 40,000.

Texans Stadium Set to Return to a Familiar Name in 2026
Just in time for the impending 2026-27 season, the Houston Texans will play their home games at a place with a very familiar name. The Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation recently approved changing the name back to Reliant Stadium, and the area around the venue back to Reliant Park.

Lupton Stadium - TCU Horned Frogs
The Texas Christian University baseball team is a member of the Big 12 Conference. The baseball team plays their home games at Charlie and Marie Lupton Baseball Stadium at Williams-Reilly Field located on the TCU campus in Fort Worth, Texas. Lupton Stadium is named for Charlie and Marie Lupton in recognition of a $2 million gift from the Brown-Lupton Foundation, of which Charlie was a founder back in 1944.

Toyota Center Gets Approval for $180 Million Renovation
On April 8, the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority approved a $180 million renovation to Toyota Center. Located in downtown Space City, Toyota Center is home to the NBA’s Houston Rockets, and will be the home of the returning Houston Comets of the WNBA in time for the 2027-28 season.

The National Alliance of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) was founded in 1940, in part as an alternative to the NCAA and focusing on smaller schools (many of which are private and/or faith-based institutions). Since 1956, the NAIA has held playoffs and a National Championship game for their participating football schools.
