A day in Chatham combines all the elements of a classic Cape Cod experience – nearby beaches, a quaint downtown with shops and excellent restaurants, and a nighttime ball game with virtually the entire town on hand. In a league full of unique parks and postcard-perfect towns, Chatham offers an experience that may top them all.

The Greeneville Flyboys call Eastman Credit Union Field at Pioneer Park home, on the campus of Tusculum University in Tusculum, Tennessee. The franchise carries on the city’s long tradition of summer baseball following the transition from affiliated minor league baseball to the Appalachian League’s collegiate format.

The Cape Cod League’s one mainland ball field is rarely mentioned among its best parks, but it has a charm of its own. With the recent upgrades to the facility, the gate has been swung open for a repeat visit to Wareham.

While the talent in the Cape Cod League is certainly Major League caliber, the feel at the ballparks is small town. This is certainly true in Bourne, where the entire facility has been designed, built and maintained by the students at the technical high school on site.

The old saying in real estate (location, location, location) doesn’t account for everything here in Hyannis. While McKeon Park enjoys a prime spot near downtown Hyannis and Hyannis harbor, the field is listed near the bottom of most Cape League rankings. Until some serious work is done on the grounds, it will be certain to stay there.

The Flying Bison’s inaugural season was the summer of 2024 as a charter member of the Mid America League. After two successful seasons of leading this upstart league in attendance and fan engagement, the Bison accepted an invitation to join the more established and higher regarded TCL prior to the 2026 summer campaign.

Although still in their infancy, the Niagara Ironbacks are continuing to blaze trails in the Ontario baseball market as the lone Summer Collegiate team in Southern Ontario. George Taylor Field has become a good place to catch a game and improvements to the ballpark are ongoing.

The Bees were dealt a unique situation with New Britain Stadium, having a much larger and more advanced facility than most other summer collegiate baseball teams. That creates a different but relatively unspectacular experience for summer ball. The emergence of Dunkin Park in nearby Hartford has taken professional baseball and maybe some general interest in baseball away from New Britain. Niagara Falls Americans baseball offers fans a solid baseball experience at the college level. The PGCBL is not the most prestigious league of the summer, but the Americans will entertain fans at Sal Maglie Stadium with good value for the sporting dollar.

There is nothing fancy about Lee Jordan Field. What you will experience at a Chinooks game is small town baseball, through and through. And that is exactly what will keep you coming back for more.

The renovations to Stony Brook Field that have taken place over the past few years have served to both enhance and detract from the game day experience, if that makes sense. New bleachers and new amenities are certainly a plus, but enclosing the field in thick chain link fence has ruined the intimacy this field enjoyed, and has destroyed sight lines from many vantage points from around the facility.

Ed Harvey Field is one of those small-town ball fields that make Stadium Journeys so worthwhile. Placing a team in the summer tourist destination of Mystic was a masterstroke by the NECBL. It’s unfortunate that there isn’t a better facility closer to the town’s many attractions for the Schooners.

Hermon Brothers Field is one of those quaint, small-town ballparks that make stadium journeys so special. With high-quality baseball being played on the field at a most affordable price, you’ll enjoy your visit to Alaska. And oh, that view!

A Southern Maryland Senators game at North Point High School is a very basic experience, even by the standards of the Cal Ripken Senior Collegiate Baseball League. it is obvious from the way the staff treat what few fans do show up that they care about the team. However, with not much to work with in terms of facilities, and low turnout so far, their hard work has not yet paid off. We hope it will do so in the future.

Mulcahy Stadium is a quaint old ballpark located in a wonderful destination city. The back story of the Glacier Pilots and Bucs, who cannot exist in their shared ballpark, makes for a unique visiting experience. Throw in the fact that the Alaska League continues to be one of the premier summer college circuits in the nation, and you have found yourself a fantastic Stadium Journey.

When the Yanks switched their affiliation to nearby Somerset Patriots, the Thunder become inaugural members of the MLB Draft League in 2021.
