Stadium Journey's Frontier League Ballpark Ranking 2026

Big things are on the way in the Frontier League. Already the largest of the independent circuits in terms of total number of teams (18) and geography (the league's footprint stretches from the province of Quebec in the northeast to North Carolina in the southeast to Mississippi up to greater St. Louis), the league is looking at a rebrand for the 2027 season to the National Association of Professional Baseball. There are also rumors that two new teams will be joining the circuit for next year (Kane County Cougars and Cleburne Railroaders).
Stadium Journey’s writers are frequent visitors to the ballparks in the Frontier League. We were able to update reviews for three of the league’s parks in 2026, and 14 of the 18 venues have been reviewed within the last four years. We even boast a PA announcer for one of the teams amongst our writers. It is safe to say we are well-versed in the ballparks in this circuit.
The ballparks are ranked according to Stadium Journey’s patented FANFARE system, which ranks facilities according to their Food and beverage, gameday Atmosphere, surrounding Neighborhood, Fan support, Accessibility, Return on investment, and an Extra category for anything not covered by the other six categories. When two or more ballparks are tied, a StaWintrdium Journey Council of Elders is convened to break the deadlock.
Without any further ado, we are proud to present, for the final time, Stadium Journey’s ranking of the ballparks of the Frontier League for the 2026 season.

Paul Baker - While there was a great deal of criticism surrounding the efforts to preserve and restore this historic facility and the Jackals’ subsequent move there, it’s wonderful to be able to step back in time and experience a baseball game in an original Negro League ballpark. While some of the choices made in setting up the field may be questionable, this is a place that every baseball historian should endeavor to visit.

Paul Baker - It’s been a frustrating three seasons back in pro ball here in the City of Champions, where every step forward seems to be followed by a step back. The Rox may be on the ropes, but can they go the distance?

Eric Hasman - This ballpark is one of the best-kept secrets on the south side of the Chicagoland area. The design of the ballpark, the local fans who tailgate, the support of the club, and the affordable pricing should make Ozinga Field a can’t miss for any baseball traveler.

Paul Baker - Trois Rivieres will not be a destination considered by many baseball fans when planning a road trip. However, a trip to Quebec to see Stade Quillorama is a worthwhile stadium journey for any fan. This old-timey facility is a cozy place to catch a game, and the small city of Trois Rivieres is a unique destination to include on a ballpark road trip.

Eric Hasman - The Schaumburg Boomers experience is noticeably better than the Schaumburg Flyers experience from many years ago. It seems the Boomers are keeping up their winning ways and are always upgrading the fan experience. Wintrust Field is worth checking out during any ballpark tours of the Chicagoland area.

Gregory Koch - Skylands Stadium may be far away from everywhere everyone thinks of when they think of New Jersey, but it is still a great place to watch a baseball game. Between the unique and fitting architectural style and all the on-field and off-field ways the team promotes the fan experience, a Sussex County Miners game is a great way to spend a summer evening.

Stadium Journey - The city of Washington’s population is near 14,000, but it is only a 30-minute drive from Pittsburgh and Wheeling, West Virginia. Located adjacent to I-70 and near the Washington Crown Center shopping mall, the colorful ballpark offers various food options, between-inning promotions, and even cookies and milk.
Grainger Stadium - Down East Bird Dawgs 3.43 (2026)

Gregory Koch - Grainger Stadium is a historic ballpark in a small town. While it isn't the fanciest stadium by any means, it has the charm and history that many of the newer venues lack. Unfortunately, the crowds have not shown up in recent years, particularly with the move to Indy Ball, and a Bird Dawgs game can feel like a ghost town at times.

Marc Viquez - Bosse Field is an example of baseball from another time, and its aura can be felt the moment you walk through the main entrance. To many, it’s a tourist attraction and a baseball destination for ballpark travelers. However, it remains “a foe to time” and “a monument to the city” and one of the last of its kind in professional baseball.

Matt Colville - The new team’s name pays tribute to the legendary catfish that lurk in the rivers and lakes of Central Mississippi, a region that proudly calls itself the “Catfish Capital of the World.” Now, an exciting new brand of baseball has taken over, and Trustmark Park didn’t just fade into silence – it just got a little muddier.

Paul Baker - Clover Stadium is one of the nicer ballparks you’ll come across in your ballpark travels. Unfortunately, its location serves to keep it a hidden secret to many baseball fans. If this ballpark was located in a downtown area, it may be listed among the best in all of independent baseball.

Marc Viquez - It is a marvelous, little ballpark that has become one of the better ones in independent baseball. The ticket prices are affordable, the food is creative and fun, and promotional nights should attract fans to the stadium. When in St. Louis, there is more than one option for a baseball game.

Dave Cottenie - Although the Ottawa baseball market is redeveloping after the phenomenon that was the rise and fall of the Ottawa Lynx, the Ottawa Titans are bringing in fans at a rate far superior to previous teams. A trip to see the Titans is a great way to spend a summer evening in Canada's capital, one of the best tourist cities in the country.

Marc Viquez - The Lake Erie Crushers are a refreshing reminder of community, tradition, and a love of the game. Whether you’re a die-hard baseball enthusiast or simply looking for a fun summer evening with the family, a trip to see the Crushers play offers an experience that’s both memorable and meaningful—and all just 30 minutes west of Cleveland.

Paul Baker - Quebec would never be considered a baseball city by most fans, but Les Capitales have been one of the more successful independent teams in any league, both on and off the field. A trip to historic Stade Canac is one worth taking for any ballpark chaser.

Paul Baker - Even though The Joe was a victim of Minor League Baseball’s downsizing, it remains a solid facility, and an excellent addition to the growing Frontier League. Here’s hoping that Capital District baseball fans realize that the ValleyCats remain as entertaining as ever, and that the baseball played on the field might actually be better than what they saw in their affiliated days.

Marc Viquez - Thomas More Stadium is a small stadium that packs in a big punch. It is a simple facility that makes up for it by getting base hits with free parking, local food variety, affordable prices, and a positive attitude. The use of the water tower and the phrase "Florence Y'all" is awesomely fun.

Eric Hasman - Duly Health and Care Field has a surprisingly lot of pros to make it one of the best ballparks in the Chicagoland area. It offers a wraparound concourse, creative food options, cheap prices, a healthy selection of craft beers, and an active surrounding neighborhood to make it well worth your while to visit.
