Time has a way of making something that one time seemed so grandiose become mortal. When it first opened in 1984, The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach, Maine was called, “the prettiest ballpark in creation” by Sports Illustrated, who likened the stadium to a hunting lodge due to the pine used throughout the facility.

Graves Athletic Field is a bare-bones setup, just a baseball diamond and backstop, with a small set of bleachers and a game operations shed behind home plate.

Mahaney Diamond is a rather basic facility, with three sets of aluminum bleachers encircling home plate and shaded by trees overhead.

St. Louis Field is the most basic facility used in the GNCBL, consisting of three sets of aluminum bleachers.

Morton Field joins the mix as a host site in the Greater Northeast Collegiate Baseball League (GNCBL), home to the Augusta Surgin’ Sturgeon.

The Bangor Babes come to the Greater Northeast Collegiate Baseball League (GNCBL) and Bangor, Maine as a new stop in the league.

Ed Flaherty Field is one of the more comfortable facilities used in the GNCBL – the seating bowl here is built into the hillside.

By 2010 The Ballpark began hosting American Legion teams and youth tournaments, and in 2011 welcomed its first summer collegiate baseball.
