Bentley Arena - Bentley Falcons
The term “bandbox” is often used to describe small ballparks, but not hockey rinks. If we were to co-opt the term to use for hockey, it would describe The Bentley Arena perfectly. This cozy facility with its eco-friendly design is a hidden gem in the crowded Boston hockey scene.

Skate Frederick - Hood Blazers
The Hood Blazers are one of the newest college ice hockey programs, representing Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. The Blazers compete at the Division III level, and only have a women's hockey team, not a men's one. Since there is no ice rink on the Hood campus, the Blazers compete about three miles away at Skate Frederick, a local ice rink. There are two rinks at Skate Frederick, and the Blazers compete on Rink 2.
Hood's first season was 2024-25, and was complicated b

Bird Ice Arena - Ohio Bobcats
If there is anything else I’d like to say about the arena is this: even if you aren’t a huge fan of hockey, go at least once to a game at Bird Ice Arena. It is a staple of the Athens community and makes for an entertaining experience on any given night of the week.

Stephen Hetland Arena - UMass Dartmouth Corsairs
While Hetland Arena is no more than a serviceable home for the Corsairs, UMass Dartmouth hockey fans are advised to keep their eyes on the horizon. There are whispers in the air of big things coming in the future for Corsair hockey.

Hart Center Rink - Holy Cross Crusaders
Several smaller schools in NCAA’s Division One have built shiny new arenas for their hockey teams recently. Meanwhile, the Crusaders soldier on at the Hart Center. While not as flashy or modern as many area rinks, it’s a solid place for the Crusaders to call home.

George V. Meehan Auditorium - Brown Bears
Meehan Auditorium, in use for over sixty years, gives you exactly what you would expect from an Ivy League hockey rink. It’s uniquely designed, it’s loaded with history and features a gameday presentation that is reserved and almost scholarly in nature. While often overlooked in a crowded New England hockey scene, Meehan Auditorium makes for an excellent Stadium Journey.

Arthur R. Driscoll Rink - Roger Williams Hawks
There’s nothing especially flashy or fancy about Driscoll Rink, and it certainly isn’t convenient for fans of Roger Williams hockey, but that doesn’t matter for Hawk hockey fans, who have been waiting almost three decades for a return to the NCAA. Surely there are more permanent plans on the horizon for the Hawks, so stay tuned…

Fred Rust Arena - Delaware Blue Hens (women)
The Delaware Blue Hens women's ice hockey program was upgraded from club to NCAA level in 2025, and now competes in Atlantic Hockey America, a hockey-only conference formed in 2023 by the merger of the men's-only Atlantic Hockey and the women's only College Hockey America. They play their home games at Fred Rust Arena on the UD campus.

Tsongas Center - UMass Lowell River Hawks
It’s easy to be overshadowed in the crowded Boston hockey scene, but the Tsongas Center is still one of the better hockey rinks in the area, even if it’s often overlooked by its more famous brethren in the area.

Warrior Ice Arena - Stonehill Skyhawks
After playing three seasons in the Bridgewater Ice Arena near campus, it was obvious that something needed to be done in order for Stonehill to compete for recruits in hockey-mad New England. While playing in an arena 30 miles from campus is far from ideal, having Warrior Ice Arena as a home nest has allowed Stonehill to schedule nationally ranked opponents while they await their shiny new on-campus home.

Matthews Arena - Northeastern Huskies Hockey
Northeastern has been very quiet about what the future holds for the Matthews Arena site, which has led to rumors that red tape has held up the project, or that a renovation is being considered rather than a total replacement. A visit to the Northeastern hockey websites only display the schedules through December, when Matthews is due to close. No matter what is happening next at Northeastern, hockey fans are running out of time to take one last look at this historic rink.

But Wait, There's More! Northeastern Announces Additional Games at Matthews Arena
To paraphrase the great Mark Twain, the rumors of Matthews Arena’s demise may have been greatly exaggerated. Earlier this week, Northeastern men’s and women’s hockey announced that they would be playing the 2025 portions of their upcoming schedules at their longtime home rink.
