New York Islanders Moving to Brooklyn

With an NHL lockout looming over the heads of fans and teams; the New York Islanders are making news off the ice. Multiple sources confirm that Long Island's only professional sports team will call Brooklyn home in 2015. Team and arena representatives have called a press conference at 1 p.m to make the news official; once the lease at Nassau Coliseum expires in 2014, the team will be moving to the brand new Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets.

Issues involving the seating capacity are sure to be a top priority as stadium officials have said that Barclays can only hold approximately 14,000 fans, a relatively small amount for an NHL venue. Fans on Long Island may feel deserted, as a team that was once in their backyard, has relocated to a distant, city-like area that will not immediately feel like home.

Keep an eye-out for the review of the Barclays Center in the upcoming days.

New name

I hope they change their name as Islanders doesn't fit in Brooklyn. How about Brooklyn Bankers after the Barclays Center? Or Brooklyn Borough if you want to keep the geographical link? Or New York No-Longer-On-The-Islanders?
