Tickets On Sale for Earthquakes and Galaxy at Stanford Stadium

By Ryan Norris -- February 19, 2013 12:41 PM EST

In what has become a bit of a tradition, the Earthquakes will again host a Fourth of July weekend match at Stanford Stadium in 2013.

After successful forays up the peninsula the last two years, the Quakes will welcome California Clásico rivals Los Angeles Galaxy to an expected sellout crowd.

In 2011, the Earthquakes battled Thierry Henry and the New York Red Bulls to a 2-2 tie in front of 41,028 fans.

In 2012, David Beckham, Landon Donavon, and the Galaxy came to Stanford, where the Earthquakes were victorious 4-3 in an intense and emotional match. The 2012 game generated a sellout crowd of 50,391. Though the Quakes consistently sellout at Buck Shaw Stadium, the 2012 game against the Galaxy was the first ever which was sold out prior to game day.

The Earthquakes play all other home games at 10,525 seat Buck Shaw Stadium on the campus of Santa Clara University. They have a new stadium under construction in San Jose, scheduled to open in 2014. You can see the seating chart and stadium designs here.

The 2012 Supporter's Shield victors begin their MLS schedule on March 3, with the California Clásico at Stanford Stadium on June 29, complete with post-game fireworks. Tickets start at $20 for the event and can be purchased here.
