Australian Open Now Weatherproof

by Lloyd Rothwell - Jul 25, 2014 11:14 PM EDT

With the new retractable roof over Margaret Court Arena becoming operational this week, Tennis Australia has claimed the Australian Open is now "weatherproof".

Beginning with the January 2015 tournament, Melbourne Park will feature three courts with roofs; Rod Laver Arena (capacity of 15,000), HiSense Arena (capacity of 10,000) and Margaret Court Arena (capacity of 5,000). Melbourne Park will be the only Grand Slam venue to boast this feature with so many courts with a roof.
