ANZAC Day Stadium Journey Opportunities

ANZAC Day Stadium Journey Opportunities

by Lloyd Rothwell - Apr 23, 2014 10:23 PM EDT

Australians and New Zealanders observe ANZAC Day every year on April 25. ANZAC Day broadly commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders who have served in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations, and is comparable to Veterans Day in the United States. The acronym ANZAC stands for "Australian and New Zealand Army Corps" and was first used to describe our fighting forces in World War I, with particular reference to the Gallipoli Campaign in Turkey in 1915.

The day is traditionally marked by dawn services, marches and games of "Two Up". Football has also recently become part of the ANZAC Day tradition, with the major codes staging games to commemorate the occasion. These games are truly a special experience and offer a Stadium Journey like no other.

2014 OHL Arena Experience Rankings

by Dave Cottenie - Apr 23, 2014 11:28 AM EDT

The OHL experience is one of the greatest in all of sports. Intimate arenas without the controversy of major U.S. college basketball or football. The opportunity to really see the stars of tomorrow mixed with players who just love to play the game. The energy level on the ice is unparalleled by any other hockey league in the world.

This year’s rankings are a bit of an anomaly. A temporary move has made a team go from first to worst with the Ottawa 67's temporary home in the Canadian Tire Centre. Next year's rankings have the chance to look a bit different. The 67's will move back home to their newly named TD Place Arena, and the Niagara Ice Dogs will move into their new home in St. Catharines, the Meridian Centre. The lowest score for any arena was just shy of 3, with the top score reaching just over 4. All of the experiences can be great and all are worth checking out regardless of where they feel in our ranking.

The rankings are comprised of scores from official rankings taking into consideration the rankings from members of the Stadium Journey website. Not all arenas have been reviewed by the same person. Scores are based on the Stadium Journey FANFARE rating scale. Enjoy!
