Record Crowds Attend 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup

by Lloyd Rothwell - Mar 29, 2015 7:42 PM EDT

A record crowd at the Melbourne Cricket Ground for the final of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup last night capped off the most attended cricket World Cup ever. It eclipsed both the previous single day record, set on the opening day of the 2013 Boxing Day Test, and the one-day international record, set during the final of the 1992 World Cup. The ICC has lauded the event as the best attended and most followed cricket tournament ever, with overall crowd figures totaling over one million.
