Warriors Adjust Sights South to Mission Bay

Whether it was ownership admitting to or wising up to the fact that construction at Piers 30/32 would never happen, the Warriors have decided to abandon plans for building on an aging public pier in favor of building on private land. The new Warriors arena will be built on 12 acres of land in San Francisco's Mission Bay neighborhood.

The Mission Bay neighborhood is not a historical portion of the city, rather a neighborhood established in the late 1990's as a development project. Out moved lower income people and in moved biotech companies, luxury housing and high-end restaurants. While still growing, the neighborhood already offers more pre or postgame options than their current home at Oracle Arena.

At Stadium Journey, we are about the whole stadium experience. That isn't limited to just the categories that constitute our Fanfare rating, but includes anything that might impact your visit to a game. For example, the amount of time you might be spending in the stadium.

If you're a major-league baseball fan, you've likely noticed that games are getting longer these days. The issue popped up when an unnamed MLB executive raised the idea of limiting games to 7 innings. There is no chance of this ever happening, but the fact that such a ridiculous idea made the news is telling. Games are getting longer. But what you probably don't realize is that they are getting slower as well.
