Brampton Battalion Moving to North Bay

By Dave Cottenie -- November 05, 2012 9:12 PM EST

It appears that the Brampton Battalion are ending their 15 year tenure in Brampton with a move to North Bay, Ontario. The North Bay city council has approved the necessary upgrades to the North Bay Memorial Gardens, and a 15 year lease agreement has been reached with the team. The OHL Board of Governors needs to approve the relocation and 2,000 season tickets need to be sold in North Bay, but both seem to be formalities.

The North Bay Memorial Gardens is currently the home for the Nipissing Lakers of the CIS and have had a solid following over the last 3 years. North Bay has been without OHL hockey since 2002 when the team was moved to the Dow Event Center in Saginaw. The Centennials were in North Bay for 20 years. What this means for the Lakers has not been made public as of yet. We'll continue to follow this story.
