The Denver Cutthroats, a 2012 expansion team of the CHL (Central Hockey League), played its first games at the Historic Denver Coliseum this past weekend (10/19-20/2012).
The Cutthroats won their first ever game in a 4-3 overtime against the Missouri Mavericks on Fri, 10/19/12. The following evening, A.J. Gale recorded the first hat trick for the Cutthroats.
History of hockey at the Denver Coliseum goes back many years and includes the Denver Mavericks (1958-59); Denver Invaders (1963-64); Denver Spurs (1968-76); and Denver Rangers (1988-89).
For those in Colorado who need a hockey fix, do check out the Cutthroats. They run a great game day operation and prices are more affordable than the NHL (whom are not currently playing so far this 2012 season).
