Arizona Basketball Debuts New Video Board at McKale Center

By Jason Bartel -- January 02, 2014 11:55 AM EST

The No. 1 Arizona Wildcats open their Pac-12 schedule Thursday night against the Washington State Cougars at McKale Center, and have a shiny new toy they will unveil: An enormous new video board.

Over the winter break, workers brought down the old McKale Center video board and installed a new one, and the difference is quite drastic, as seen in this comparison picture.

This new scoreboard over center court is just part of Phase one of two in an $80 million renovation of McKale over the next two seasons.

Also up for fans now are two new LED boards above both sides of the concourse.

After this season, McKale will see changes to the seating area, as well as the locker room setup for the men's and women's basketball teams.

Phase Two will include a massive renovation to the exterior of McKale Center, including pushing the exterior walls out to create a new concourse area with improved concessions and overall amenities.

But for now, the new scoreboard is a pretty great addition for the top-ranked team in the country.
